RG11 coaxial cable
The RG11 coaxial cable stands out for its exceptional signal retention, surpassing RG59 and RG6, especially in long-range video applications.
Its characteristics make it a top choice for specific audio/video needs:
Design and Use:
RG11 is bulkier and less flexible than RG59 or RG6, accommodating a larger gauge conductor. This feature allows it to maintain strong signal integrity over distances up to 400 feet, ideal for main video runs.
RG11 Coaxial Cable, Direct Burial 14 AWG Solid CCS:
Tailored for outdoor installations, this RG11 variant boasts a 14 gauge copper-clad steel conductor, complemented by 60% aluminum braid and foil shielding for EMI protection. Its UV-resistant jacket and CMX rating make it perfect for direct burial, ensuring durability against environmental elements.
RG11 Plenum Coaxial Cable, 14 AWG CCS:
Suited for plenum networking, this cable features the same 14 gauge CCS conductor but with enhanced shielding – aluminum foil plus a 65% aluminum braid. This 500-foot cable, 3GHz sweep tested and RoHS compliant, assures top-notch performance in demanding indoor settings. Overall, the RG11 coaxial cable is a robust, reliable solution for extensive TV cable wire networking and specialized AV installations, catering to both outdoor and indoor requirements with its specialized variants.
Coaxial cable is used as a transmission line for radio frequency signals. Typical applications of coaxial cable include video and CATV distribution, RF and microwave transmission, and computer and instrumentation data connections. The RG designation stands for Radio Guide; the U designation stands for Universal. There are different types of coaxial cable, which vary by gauge and impedance. Gauge refers to the cable's thickness and is measured by the radio guide measurement or RG number. The higher the RG number, the thinner the central conductor core is. The most common sizes of coaxial cable for CATV are RG-6, RG-11, and RG-59. For more about its key features and applications, please check our complete guide to CATV RG cable.

CATV Coaxial cable types
● RG-6 cables have a more prominent conductor (18AWG=1.02mm), providing better signal quality. They have thicker dielectric insulation and are made with a different kind of shielding (AL/PET Foil with Braiding), allowing them to handle GHz level signals more effectively. As this type of cable is thin, it can also be easily installed on walls or ceilings. RG 6 is most famous for TV.
● RG-59 cable is similar to the RG-6 but has an even thinner center conductor (20AWG=0.81mm). This makes it a good choice for short runs and low-frequency transmissions.
● RG-11 cable has the most prominent conductor (14AWG=1.63mm), making it more challenging to work with. However, it offers a lower attenuation level than RG-6 or RG-59, meaning it can carry data for longer distances.
