G.652.D (B1.3) Fiber

· Transmission Capabilities:

· 10Gbit/s System Transmission Distance: Up to 3000km

· 40Gbit/s System Transmission Distance: 80km

· Attenuation Coefficient: Same as G.652C, works in the 1360~1530nm band

· Zero-Dispersion Wavelength: 1310nm

· Minimal Attenuation Wavelength: 1550nm

· Dispersion at 1550nm: Large positive dispersion of about 18 ps/(nm·km)

· Compatibility: Most rigorous and fully backward compatible of all G.652 levels, structurally indistinguishable from ordinary G.652 fiber

· Manufacturing Technology: Differences due to manufacturing technology


G.652A Fiber

· Transmission Capabilities:

· 10Gbit/s System Transmission Distance: Up to 400km

· 40Gbit/s System Transmission Distance: 2km

· 10Gbit/s Ethernet Transmission Distance: Up to 40km


G.652B (B1.1) Fiber

· Transmission Capabilities:

· 10Gbit/s System Transmission Distance: Up to 3000km

G.652C Fiber

· Transmission Capabilities:

· Attenuation Coefficient: Lower at 1550nm, eliminates the water absorption peak near 1380nm, works in the 1360~1530nm band


G.652 Fiber Overview

· Historical Context: Earliest practical single-mode fiber, 95% of existing routing

· Cost and Technology: Lowest price, most mature technology

· Disadvantages: Large dispersion coefficient in the 1550nm band, unsuitable for long-distance applications above 2.5Gb/s

· Wavelength Windows:

· 1310nm Window:

· Attenuation: 0.3 to 0.4 dB/km

· Dispersion Coefficient: 0 to 3.5 ps/(nm·km)

· 1550nm Window:

· Attenuation: 0.19 to 0.25 dB/km

· Dispersion Coefficient: 15 to 18 ps/(nm·km)

· Extended Wavelength Range: G.652C extends the wavelength range to 1360nm to 1530nm

· Applications: High-speed, long-distance transmission, long-distance communication, trunk, cable TV, and loop feeders

· Cable Structures: Suitable for various fiber optic cable structures, including fiber optic ribbon cable, loose-layer stranded cable, skeleton cable, center bundle tube cable, and tight cable


G.657 Bend Insensitive Fiber

· Development: Latest fiber variant developed on G.652 fiber

· Mode Field: (8.6-9.5) ± 0.4, fully compatible with G.652

· Bending Resistance: Excellent, with a bending radius 1/4 to 1/2 of G.652 fiber

· Main Uses: FTTH (Fiber to the Home), small bend radius conditions, air blowing micro-cable, leather cable, DAC cable

· Wavelengths Supported: 1260, 1310, 1380, 1550, and 1625 nm (O, E, S, C, L)

· Bending Radius:

· G.657A1: 10mm

· G.657A2: 7.5mm
