RG59 coaxial cable
The RG59 coaxial cable is widely used in security networking, especially for CCTV systems, due to its adaptability and efficiency.
Here's a closer look at its variants and applications:
Standard RG59 Coaxial Cable:
With a 75 Ohm impedance, RG59 is well-suited for low-power video and RF transmission. Its solid copper conductors ensure higher signal integrity, making it a good
choice for TV cables or internet coax cables.
RG59 Siamese Cable:
This variant is particularly cost-effective for security camera installations. It combines data and power delivery in a single cable run, simplifying the setup process and reducing
overall costs.
RG59 Siamese Coaxial Cable for Direct Burial:
Designed for outdoor security camera setups, this cable features a 20 AWG solid copper data line and 18 AWG stranded copper power lines. It's encased in a flame-rated PVC jacket with PE insulation and a CMX outdoor rating, ensuring durability against environmental factors. Available in lengths of 500 or 1,000 feet on wooden spools, this cable also includes 95% copper braid shielding to guard against electrical interference.
Indoor Siamese RG59 Cable:
Suitable for indoor CCTV or CATV installations, this cable is offered in both black and white and in lengths of 500 and 1,000 feet. It's an excellent option for wiring within
office buildings, restaurants, and retail stores.
RG59 Coaxial Cable, Siamese Indoor, 20 AWG BC, 95% CCA Braid:
Featuring 20 AWG solid bare copper conductors and an 18 AWG power cable, this cable ensures robust signal transmission. The 95% copper-clad aluminum braid shielding minimizes interference, making it highly efficient for indoor use. Available in various lengths and color options, RG59 coaxial cables cater to diverse installation needs, offering reliability and quality in both indoor and outdoor security applications.
Coaxial cable is used as a transmission line for radio frequency signals. Typical applications of coaxial cable include video and CATV distribution, RF and microwave transmission, and computer and instrumentation data connections. The RG designation stands for Radio Guide; the U designation stands for Universal. There are different types of coaxial cable, which vary by gauge and impedance. Gauge refers to the cable's thickness and is measured by the radio guide measurement or RG number. The higher the RG number, the thinner the central conductor core is. The most common sizes of coaxial cable for CATV are RG-6, RG-11, and RG-59. For more about its key features and applications, please check our complete guide to CATV RG cable.

CATV Coaxial cable types
● RG-6 cables have a more prominent conductor (18AWG=1.02mm), providing better signal quality. They have thicker dielectric insulation and are made with a different kind of shielding (AL/PET Foil with Braiding), allowing them to handle GHz level signals more effectively. As this type of cable is thin, it can also be easily installed on walls or ceilings. RG 6 is most famous for TV.
● RG-59 cable is similar to the RG-6 but has an even thinner center conductor (20AWG=0.81mm). This makes it a good choice for short runs and low-frequency transmissions.
● RG-11 cable has the most prominent conductor (14AWG=1.63mm), making it more challenging to work with. However, it offers a lower attenuation level than RG-6 or RG-59, meaning it can carry data for longer distances.
