FTTX Drop Cable Solutions | Bow-type, Armored & Wireless RRU Fiber Optic Cables

Introduction: Why FTTX Drop Cable is Important for Deployment

FTTX, or "Fiber To The X," has become widely accepted as the mainstay technology for the local connectivity of high-speed broadband networks, leading straight into dwelling, shops, and distant locations. The FTTX drop cables serve as the final section in these networks and are responsible for linking the distribution point with the end-user premises.

Zion Communication presents the entire spectrum of FTTX drop cables suited for overhead, duct, indoor, and outside applications. These cables are further engineered to provide their resilience, low bending sensitivity, and easy assembly and installation.

 FTTX Drop Cable Product Classification

1️⃣ Bow-type Drop Cable for FTTX (types A and B)

The indoor drop cables dominate among FTTH deployments. They have a "bow-type" design, a flat cable with which a simple stripper tool can work and easy termination leads.

  • Fiber Types: G.657.A2 / G.657.A1

  • Strength Members: 2x FRP or Steel

  • Messenger Wire: FRP or steel (optional)

  • Dimensions: 2.0 x 3.0 mm / 2.0 x 5.0 mm

  • Jacket Material: LSZH, black or white

Application:

  • FTTH in indoor/outdoor applications

  • Wall mount, duct, or clamp mounting

  • Mechanical coiling and fusion splicing get along very well.

2️⃣ Armored Bow-type Drop Cable

This cable is created for applications in the outdoors, which are stiff, abrasive, and exposed; so to enhance the resistance to rodents and crush, it is equipped with steel wires or corrugated armor, either in the inner sheath or the outer layer.

  • Structure: FRS + Steel with gap, or UF or Armor

  • Bend Radius: Bigger than 10 times of diameter

  • Outer Sheath: WUV resistant LSZH.

Application:

  • Buildings with risk of being attacked by rodents.

  • Surface installations to which equipment mounting will exert mechanical stress.

  • Long-span and robust physical protection.

3️⃣ Fiber-Optic Aerial/Duct Drop Cable

These cables are compressed, exclusively made for aerial suspension and duct pulling, with strong messenger wire and UV-stable sheath.

  • Messenger Options: 1.2mm FRP or 1.0mm Steel.

  • Installation Method: Self-supporting, pole-mounted or ducted.

  • Fiber Count: From 1 to 4 cores.

Application:

  • For long-span FTTH overhead cables.

  • Cabling for outside structures.

  • From pole to home.

4️⃣ Hybrid Splitter and Remote Radio Unit Optical Cables (A–G Arm Flow Rate)

These cables are particular fibers, reviewer/employee/micro will say with a wink or a twinkle, where optical light in the optical communication system should withstand both outdoor conditions and flexible routing.

DESIGN VARIATIONS (A-G):

  • By some with armored protection,

  • Some of them have an FRP or LSZH coating,

  • Robust outdoor use with indoor interfacing.

Common Features:

  • Low attenuation single-mode fibers;

  • High/medium flexibility with crush-resistance;

  • LSZH/UV-stable insulate material(s) for rooftop or tower install.

Application:

  • 4G/5G base stations that are wire.

  • Interconnection between Remote PM (RRH) and Base Unit (BBU).

  • A Hybrid modular system based on fiber and power.
